3PI/EBS Development Program
Site visit to James Ruse Agricultural High School to meet with DoE representative and discuss data transfer scenarios. This week we will perform a full timetable transfer based on information obtained at this meeting. Updated design change documents for identifying subject code conventions.
With the recent changes announced by the Department of Education regarding provision of timetabling services to NSW State Schools, TimeChart is working as fast as possible to be onboarded as a vendor. We are in near-daily contact with the EBS team to facilitate this process. While we are in the onboarding process, the EBS/3PI team have indicated to us that we can continue to provide timetabling sales and support in good faith to all Schools. We hope to provide further detailed updates on this process as soon as possible.
First complete successful ‘timetable parameters’ and ‘timetable cell’ publishing call to EBS test database. This completes the first stage of timetable transfer calls to the central EBS database. Awaiting feedback from EBS data security team. TimeChart will now continue to transfer and test for more complex data transfer scenarios while we wait to hear back from EBS team.
Today’s update includes latest setup and functionality screenshots. The following functionality is now built-in to v184.108.40.206
- Timetable POST command
- TimetableCell POST command
These are the final 2 transfer commands required as part of EBS data transfer for EBS customers. We are now in testing stage and also working with the 3PI team on our vendor approval process which involves testing of the above transfer protocols and business process overview.

TimeChart is now able to retrieve live data from within EBS test database and display within the TimeChart application for the first time. This includes;
- Import of EBS room codes
- Import of EBS teacher codes
- Import of EBS student data – We’re now designing the interface for how this information can be used in a normal timetable development database.
TimeChart made first successful connection using ‘GET’ data methods on James Ruse AHS database under test conditions and verified with 3PI (EBS) data integration team. During this week, the focus will be on the ‘POST’ method development which will allow TimeChart to ‘send’ completed student and timetable data to the EBS system.
Key Next Steps:
- Visiting 2 school test locations in Sydney on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20th March for scenario evaluation
TimeChart is continuing work on this 3PI integration/testing and we are anticipating a release date March 31, 2018.
TimeChart’s first test School approved and test environment URL provided to us by DET 3PI. TimeChart has begun testing data transfer integration process with real school data (in a controlled test environment).
TimeChart’s vendor on-boarding process has begun. On-boarding requires the vendor to implement a 3PI interface for their application. Subsequently, testing with the Department’s systems.
Once the vendor is on-boarded to 3PI, the Department encourages the vendor to on-board their schools.
Vendor on-boarding involves three remaining tests:Vendor on-boarding involves three remaining tests:
- Logging onto DoE systems
- Two way data transfer
- Testing the application’s functionality via 3Pi
This process is now underway with our first NSW State Government High School.
TimeChart listed as ‘Started’ for supplier in testing on the 3PI School Website. For NSW State Schools, please login to your LMBR School Website to check and verify this status if interested. TimeChart’s first trial School engaged.
NSIP Assurance Certificate received. National Schools Inter-operability Program (NSIP) confirms that TimeChart successfully fulfils the requirements for SIF-AU compliance for the ‘Timetable’ use-case. This allows TimeChart to progress to direct integration testing with the NSW 3PI System (LMBR)
All timetable module items listed below have completed development. Meeting scheduled today at 4.30 pm for HITS/SIF integration testing by NSIP staff in order to progress to Stage 2 (See below). Today we will send out an e-newsletter inviting NSW State Secondary Schools to participate in a trial data transfer. If your School would like to participate, please check your e-newsletter for details or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.

The NSW Department of Education is currently implementing a standardised student administration system for all NSW Public Schools as part of the Learning Management and Business Reform (LMBR). As part of this process, TimeChart will be implementing a new, SIF-based, LMBR 3rd party implementation function.
Within TimeChart, this new function will referred to as the ‘LMBR-SIF‘ export and is located within the ‘Main Menu > Export…’ menu as follows:
